The Lone Star is an exclusive boutique hotel, restaurant and bar, where its British owners have created a stylish retreat. Here’s where Jimmy Choos are often seen, but certainly not necessary just pack a thong, they have everything else you need to chill out at the Lone Star.

Four air-conditioned suites, with shady terraces overlook the dazzling white sandy beach. The suites decorated in cool contemporary style, a collaboration of Italian soft pieces and local Bajan mahogany furniture. Reflecting the Lone Star’s history, each suite is named in honour of an automobile legend: Cord, Studebaker, Lincoln and Buick.

Constructed in the 1940’s, the Lone Star was originally a garage owned by car-enthusiast Romy Reid. At the time it was the only garage on Barbados’ west coast licensed to sell petrol. Reid, who knew how to repair cars, quickly became a popular local celebrity, and ultimately created The Leeward Bus Company, operating buses throughout the West Coast. Reid’s work-shop still exists, forming part of the reception area of the Lone Star restaurant. During WWII, he built a coral stone air-raid shelter, which today houses the extensive wine cellars.

The Lone Star restaurant, with spectacular ocean-front setting, is described by delighted diners as “a temple of cool”. The Head local chef and his team aided in the winter season by Chefs from their UK operation, “Prego” in Richmond, create gastronomic marvels in airy open plan kitchens. The restaurant has a breezy beach bar atmosphere during the day, and in the evening it transforms, becoming a chic canteen featuring world food with a Caribbean twist, including signature dishes such as open shrimp foccacia, tuna tartar and crisp blackened dolphin with sweet potato mash and papaya salsa, created from fresh local produce.

Beach House

On the beach, adjacent to the Lone Star boutique hotel Lone Star will launch the beautiful "Beach House", a coral stone Bajan villa that can be reserved for sole occupancy with its own butler, maid and personal chef, to' create for you in the fab kitchen. This will be perfect for the Lone Star’s celebrity clientele, , including Maria Carey, John Cleese, Prince Albert of Monaco, Kylie Minogue, all the Spice Girls and, of course Michael Winner who loves the place and calls it the "Ivy of the Caribbean". The main advantage is that you can use ail the facilities of the Lone Star, but you have your own private house. The House has a huge sundeck with comfy loungers and direct access to the beach, through a private garden.

When it is not taken as a whole house, it can be cleverly divided up into one 2 bedroom duplex apartment on the first and second floors, or a one or two bedroom suite on the beach level. The Caribbean style suites are a contrast to the minimal interior of the original suites. (RATES SUBJECT TO REQUEST FOR BEACH HOUSE)

The Beach House suites have luxurious and tastefully designed interiors with a chic "at home" feel. An interesting collection of paintings and antiques from the owners’ personal collection have been strategically placed, throughout. The extensive library has everything including the classics, and the audio- visual room is full of the latest videos and DVD's. The Bedrooms are filled with fresh flowers and scented candles' and the bathrooms are full of designer fragrant products
