St James is located on the West Coast of Barbados – often referred to as the ‘Platinum Coast’ because of its popularity with the rich and famous. The sea front is peppered with luxurious beach side mansions, beautiful beaches and fantastic hotels.
The area has a rich historical heritage being the first place the British landed in the early 17th century. Although it is a very popular high end holiday destination it is also one of Barbados’s biggest parishes with over 20,000 residents and one of the islands best schools, Queen’s College.
St James is great place for some holiday shopping. It has three malls - Chattel House Village, Sunset Creek, and the West Coast Mall. Luxury items like perfume and jewellery can all be bought tax free, with a valid passport and a return ticket.
